Young Researchers’ Exchange Programme - Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)
The Leading House ETH Zurich and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) jointly fund the exchange of early career scientists between Japan and Switzerland.
The instrument funds research stays of 3–6 months in the partner country.
Switzerland-based researchers can apply to ETH Zurich (Leading House Asia) for a stay in Japan and Japanese researchers to JSPS for a stay in Switzerland.
Eligibility
Doctoral students (in exceptional cases early-career postdoctoral researchers) from Swiss universities, universities of applied sciences, public research institutes are invited to apply. Please refer to the Call Guidelines on which nationalities and permanent residency holders are eligible to apply. The call is open to all disciplines including social sciences and humanities.
Funding
Grants will cover travel costs and a monthly living allowance for a research stay at a Japanese university or research laboratory.
Application Process
The application must be submitted through our online application form with the following attachments in one single pdf document (English).
The application shall include:
- Research plan
- CV of the applicant (Switzerland-based scholar)
- Supporting letter from the Switzerland-based supervisor. Include: Stating that the applicant is scheduled to be awarded a PhD degree within two years from the fellowship starting date.
- Acceptance letter from the Japanese host
- Any other supporting document(s)
Applications that do not follow the instructions above will be dismissed.
