Beltus Mbanjei - Thailand
As I was getting closer to the end of my studies, I was interested in gaining work experience. When I came across this internship offered by Leading House Asia, I felt that it was the perfect opportunity for me to combine work and vacation as it was during the summer vacation period.
Prior to the internship I had never been to Asia, so I immediately thought through this program not only will I gain work experience but also, I will discover another country and culture.
What I love the most during my program was my team at work and the way I was welcomed in the company. My integration was very smooth and fast despite the stress I had upon arrival. Before going to Thailand, I already knew that the topic of my internship would be about data analysis as described in the internship offer, but I had no idea of which type of data I’ll be working with. I was stressed in the beginning but as the internship went further, I was performing well, and I was more and more relieved. I felt that my work was useful as I took part in an important project of the company.
The fact that I was working with Thais colleagues in a building where almost all communications took place in Thai enabled me to understand and appreciate more the Thai culture.

During my studies I mostly dealt with numerical data that I used to perform analysis on. By accomplishing this internship, I have learned and achieved new data engineering skills. This was the first time I used Microsoft Power Automate. It’s a very useful tool for managing data and automating tasks. I’m happy to have learned it.
This internship has been an opportunity for me to get familiar with the working environment of a big company. I was able to see how a normal working day goes by and the interactions between colleagues within the same and from different teams. I also saw how the interaction between different hierarchies is done at DKSH.
When it was time for work, everyone was focused on work and when it was time to have fun, it was fully fun time. I went on weekend trips with my boss and colleagues, and we also had multiple restaurant outings in which I tried various types of meals. I enjoyed drinking some sweet fresh coconut water every time in the hot weather of Bangkok.
It was always fun to go around whether in the markets, the many shopping malls or just walking through the busy streets.
The Leading House Asia played an important role by coordinating all the interviews and administrative works in relation with the internship. I also got assistance from them with my visa application.
The flight coverage and the scholarship offered made the trip very interesting as it was possible to complete the whole program without additional spendings. I was introduced to an intern at the Swiss embassy in Thailand by The Leading House Asia. Through this intern I was able to meet many international interns in Bangkok.
During my internship I had the privileged to be received at the Swiss embassy in Thailand alongside highly placed members of DKSH and my colleagues.
